Featured Pet for adoption

Brock

Description:
Breed: German Shepherd Mix
Sex: Neutered Male
Age: Approximately 1 year old
Disposition: Friendly
@ Shelter: 7/29/2009

Description:

Brock came to ODHS as a stray at the end of July 2009. He is a sweet boy who loves to be affectionate with those he trusts and is comfortable with.

Brock has shown food bowl resource guarding while at shelter and has undergone a strict behaviour modification program for this concern. This is why he has been here since the end of July. Continued work in this department will be necessary in his new home with his new family. Step by step instructions will be provided by the ODHS Animal Behaviour Coordinator. 1-2 private, in-house, lessons with the ODHS Animal Behaviour Coordinator will be provided post-adoption to help with potential resource guarding in the home.

We are looking for an adult only family for Brock due to food bowl resource guarding and lack of known experience with children. His new family should also have primary care experience with a shepherd or other large breed dog. Brock is a sweet boy but is also a strong boy who can be a little pushy at times. He absolutely MUST attend Obedience Training School. It is important that Brock learn to listen to his new owner as a confident leader - there is no better place to this than in a class setting!

Brock is likely to be good with other dogs and loves to play fetch with any ball that bounces!
